Bleeding Gum

There are both local and systemic causes of bleeding gum. Collection of plaque in internet proximal area of tooth main cause of bleeding locally. Systemic cause of gum bleeding are vitamin c,k deficiencies,hormonal changes, leukemia, low platelet counts etc. Loose ill fitting dentures also causes gum bleeding.

Forceful faulty brushing is also causes gum bleeding.

Use soft brush, alcohol free mouthwash,dental floss,cryosalt toothpaste stop bleeding gum. Take professional dental advice. Scaling 2 times in a year recommended . Periodontitis is related with cardiac (valvular vegetation),Cerebral stroke, low birth baby. It cause tooth loss,foul breath.so never neglect bleeding gum.

Dental caries

Caries are infectious disease of tooth. It occurs due to collection of plaque formed by bacteria (streptococcus mutans,Actinobacillus actomycitis etc)on hard structures of tooth surface. Bacteria generate acid that dissolves hydroxy appetite crystals of tooth,pores on it and enter into enamel,gradually dentin and pulp cause toothache, periapical abscess and cellulitis.

How to control dental caries?

1. Good oral hygiene. Brush twice daily and flossing at night.

2. Mouthwash without alcohol.

3. Sessions of smoking,because it make salivary pH low.

4. Xylitol containing chewing gum after meals.

5. Decreases sugar intake.,fastfood reduction.

6. Yogurt,cheese, spinach, fresh vegetables taking as food.

7. Floride containing food such green tea

tea,turmeric .

8. vitamin D, Calcium,phosphate in foodand sunlight make child tooth hard.

9 .stop night bottle feeding in the children.

9.visit dentist 3 month interval and take professional advice to stop caries.

Dental care during pregnancy

Pregnancy is not a disease. Maintaining oral hygiene is very important in this period.

Periodontitis can cause low birth weight baby. Scaling mandatory.

Often patient contact us with caries exposed tooth, wisdom tooth problem and pregnancy tumor of gum which bleeding on touching. All of these situations are due to lack of maintenance of oral hygiene.

Proper brushing and flossing advice to them.

1st trimester and 3rd trimester little risk for mother and fetus. In 2nd trimester treatment can done safely. Pulp extirapation under local anesthesia can be done in a short time. In case of syncope patient should laying down in left lateral position. Amoxicillin, Cefurotoxime antibiotics and paracetamol can safely use a painkiller.

Gariactic patient management

People more than 60 years called senior citizens. They are generally suffering multiple disease . Lung, cardio ,high BP,diabetic , cancer etc.

Treat them with full care so that we can avoid any complication during and and post treatment procedures.

Copd patients have been treated in late morning, dose of steroids should dubble in case of above 15 mg steroids. Keep inhaler with them. Dose of medication is subside gradually.

180/109 mm hg BP cause no problem in dental procedure. Tissue management and sutures must. In case of more BP Calcium channel blockers,diuretic is taken to decrease BP for dental work.

Patient with ecosprin 75 mg no dose adjustment required. 150 mg ecosprin when he taken it should convert to heparin and dental work can perfrom.

Patient with control diabetic should be treated normally. Uncontrolled diabetes patient prepared for surgery to reduce blood sugar levels by oral medication or insulin.

Patient with cancer under treatment hyper boric cancer thrapy need.

Surgery can done after 6 month of chemotherapy.
